Linby Colliery Welfare LFC

WBLFC  1:1  Linby Colliery Welfare LFC (28 Feb 2010, Away, League)

West Bridgford Ladies earned their first league point since November 22nd when they fought hard to draw with Linby Ladies.  Starting with eight players and finishing with nine following the late arrival of Aoife from Cambridge, Bridgford stepped up their game and produced a very good performance full of character and determination

WBL started the game brightly and playing down hill in the first half pushed Linby back with Katie Cook forcing two good saves and Frida Ohlsson finding herself in good positions but unable to make her shots count.  At the other end Amber was forced to make some smart saves as Linby started to find the inevitable gaps which did occur but thanks to good organisation not very often

The second half saw a similar pattern but this time Linby forcing the issue with the assistance of the slope.  Amber made several brave saves and Linby were guilty of poor finishing, with their best chance skied over the bar

Linby took the lead with ten minutes remaining - a bit of uncertainty in the Bridgford defence - the first in the match and the Linby forward nipped in to score

Bridgford had a great opportunity to equalise moments later when Frida raced through one on one, only to hit her shot straight at the 'keeper

But Bridgford and Frida were not to be outdone - two minutes before time Frida lost her marker again and hit her shot wide of the, keeper and into the far corner for a well deserved equaliser.  Ironically, this was Frida's most difficult chance of the game!

A great team performance with everyone playing their part in a sporting game, well refereed

Final Result: Linby Ladies 1-1 West Bridgford Ladies
