Lenton Athletic LFC

WBLFC  1:3  Lenton Athletic LFC (07 Feb 2010, Away, League)

West Bridgford Ladies resumed league action for the first time since December 13th but any signs of a return to winning form were dented by strong and spirited Lenton Athletic and some missed chances

WBL started brightly and dominated the first half, taking the lead after 12 minutes with a great strike by Ramera Collins.  Bridgford should have consolidated their lead but Sophie Buckley could only tap her shot to the 'keeper who was stranded on the ground following a good save and Frida Ohlsson's skillful lob beat the 'keeper and hit the bar

These missed chances proved costly as Lenton equalised from a good headed goal direct from a corner five minutes before half time

Lenton came right back into the game in the second half with Sarah Philpott creating most problems for WBL with some great wing play.  Sarah provided some good crosses into the box but unfortunaetly the finishing was weak

Lenton secured their victory with two second half goals following some untidy defending and despite their best efforts to get back into the game, Bridgford found the Lenton defence too strong and determined

A good, sporting game despite the result!
